- PREFACE -
"SPIRITUAL ATHEISM"
The purpose of this work ('BOOK-IN') is to answer to problems.
PROBLEM 1: "The Problem of 'God'"
TEXT
PROBLEM 2: "The Problem of the Operation of 'Immutable Laws' on a 'phenomenological plane'"
(Put another way - this is is the problem of the operation of immutable Law (Divine Law) with respect to the Third Dimensional Plane, of Planet Earth.
Problem 1 - The Problem of God" - becomes in effect - "an exploration into the nature of 'God.'"
Problem 2 becomes, in effect - answering the question - how can "mortal mankind" - better understand the operation of 'Immutable Law' ('Divine Law') - within a Plane - "Planet Earth" and what is the 'best solution' to this conundrum of 'Existence.'
RELIGION
Religion as it is currently understood and has been practiced for millennia - appears to be, when considered as a practical solution - to problem 1 - which we have defined as the "Problem of 'God'" - and which we have defined as being - an exploration into the nature of 'God' - seems to have become "exhausted." Religion as a practice for millennia - has shown that it has not been able to produce universal peace on Earth and indeed in many parts of the world, its usefulness is questionable, particularly in the West. There are parts of the world, where it is embraced more fully, but this often leads to extremism in its practice and therefore far from producing peace, often produces the "tyranny of the religious majority" over "minority religious faiths."
SPIRITUALITY
The element / term 'Spirituality' may also be on its "last legs" - as a functioning answer to problems 1 and 2. Yet it seems that it has "qualities" as a result of its 'definition,' 'practice' and 'use' to be worth saving. This is because as an element / term (see OAA's TSOAC) - it has an 'objectivity' and 'abstractness' - which the element / terms 'Religion' does not have. In relation to the element / term 'God' - the element / term 'Spirituality' evokes less psychological and emotional issues - it has less "emotional baggage" - than both the element / term - 'God' and 'Religion.'
Further, inherent in its definition, there are "scientific aspects" - in relation to the element / term 'Spirituality' - one only has to think of the scientific discipline of psychology, the general study of the 'Mind' and ultimately, 'Consciousness' itself.
'Consciousness' because of the current lack of understanding - may actually be used in an attempt to "save" the element / term 'Spirituality.'
Could the same be said for the element / terms - 'God' and 'Religion.' Unfortunately, it is considered that this is not possible - the history of both these element / terms and the "emotional baggage" - prevents this - the only solution to both the element / terms both 'God' and 'Religion' - would be the substitution of two new terms. If that process were to be considered - one would have to define those new element / terms and in their definition - set out what was meant by them. This would be a separate process and a long term one and therefore, it could hardly be of use, to those of mankind, who currently struggle in properly "comprehending" and "understanding" - the "necessity" for any Human Society community or organisation in the belief of a First Cause.
A belief in a First Cause - is an absolute (Adelaja - Axioms Of The Absolute.) Whether it is openly acknowledged in a belif of 'God' or a practice of a religion - or "disguised" in some other communal belief and practice. in other words it is not openly acknowledged, but it forms the basis of "ethical understanding and practice" within a Human Community.
Therefore, in this work (BOOK-IN) it is posited that through properly understanding 'Consciousness' and its 'Laws' - an understanding of the element / term 'Spirituality' - may be obtained.
ATHEISM
The element / term 'Atheism' - marks the "extreme abandonment" of both 'God,' 'Religion' and 'Logic.' By definition 'Atheism' acknowledges an abandonment of both 'God' and 'Religion.' However, those who propose this "faith" - because it is a "belief system" - and since it seeks to answer an unknown - it is therefore "faith-based." Atheism cannot disprove the existence of 'God.' It is an abandonment of the element 'Logic' - because "every paradigmatic field" - in other words - every meaningful and even unmeaningful element that exists in The Cosmoi, exists within a paradigmatic field. At the pinnacle of this paradigmatic field - is its axiom - that which is "assumed" to be true. For a "religious person" this is 'God.' For a "non-religious / secular" - this is the "First Cause." (Whatever, that is) - there is no third way - there can be no exception. (see Adelaja's - Axioms Of Consciousness, Mind & Logic.).
The element / term - 'Atheism' - is therefore posited as a "contrast" - "opposition" - to the element / term - 'Spiritual' - it is considered therefore as a subject in its own right - forced to co-exist - as is seen in the title to this work / BOOK-IN - "Spiritual Atheism" - the dialectic result, which is produced in considering both element / terms - is offered as a solution to problems 1 and 2 (see above.)
CONCLUSION
The author concludes that the element / term 'Atheism' is not the answer to problems 1 and 2, but that it represents "an abandonment of reason and logic" - for it does not disprove the existence of 'God' and unless it accepts a "First Cause" - which is proveable - then those who adhere to it are in the same position as those who believe in 'God.' It too must declare some universal principle - which it must equate with 'God' or a First Cause.
This in itself is not logically objectionable - however, because atheism is defined as being an opposition to a belief in God - it cannot without difficulty assume some of the necessary benefits" - in such a belief. Atheism cannot impose objective ethical and moral standards in a Human Society. Without the ability for the imposition by the "ultimate authority" in a society - to impose ethical and moral conduct - there can be no 'law' and order. Without 'Law' and 'Order' - there can be no 'Justice' in a society - and therefore no 'Peace' - in a society.
Further, 'Atheism' represents - an abandonment of 'Reason' and 'Logic' - for there must have been a "First Cause" - with its 'Immutable Law.' 'Atheism' therefore ultimately represents an abandonment of 'Wisdom,' 'Understanding' and 'Knowledge.' The title "SPIRITUAL ATHEISM" - reveals starkly problems of "belief" - "ethics" and "morals" - "good conduct and behaviour" - within a society.
Within the SOTI FEDERATION - amongst all the other schools / factions within that organisation, such as the "African / Black Christo Mystics - & Futurists," "Stanaleez, The Wise" global popularism movement, the Jesuits with their Universal Christian Doctrine, the Buddhists, with there secular spiritual practice - the Confucianists - the Geo-Theocrats (Mathematicians and Scientists) - and others, including Sufis and other Mystic groups - Theosophists - Kabbalists, Metaphysicians, Alchemists, Hermeticisms - there were the secular Atheists. Their admission to SOTI was not readily accepted by many, it was regarded as being contrary to the overriding ethos of SOTI - which accepted the existence of a "First Cause." In a series of SOTI Council meetings, its supreme body - santioned the existence of this small group - it was not popular enough to be called a school.
Whilst the SOTI Council considerations are private with documents only available to senior initiates (see OAA's SOTI collected Works - "The Spiritual Atheist" (Admission Hearings) - this work Spiritual Atheism - in condensed form, represents both the arguments presented by the Spiritual Atheists themselves and the conclusions of the SOTI FEDERATION COUNCIL.
